Derek Yu  has finally released the 1.0 version of the epic Spelunky, and at the same time launched a website, announced a XBLA version and started his own label Mossmouth. The company thing is promising but I would suspect it is solely due to contractual obligations with Microsoft and not a sign that Derek will ramp up or diversify his game creation efforts.

Still great news, though. Spelunky has a “just once more” – quality to it that makes me reluctant to start it for fearing of losing too much time in it, but that is hardly a bad thing quality-wise. Also, Derek has stated that he will release the source of the PC Spelunky before the end of the year – a noble initiative and it should be an interesting read to say the least.
